The Saratoga Education Foundation will host its first family fair on Sept, 24, complete with games, fun, food and music, The foundation, which was started more than 30 years ago by parents worried about funding for their children’s education, is run completely by volunteers.“It will be a fun community event, allowing families to see what SEF has to offer,” said Karin Colinet, vice president of communications for the SEF board, “This is the first time we’re organizing the fair, but we are hoping to turn it into an annual event.”According to Colinet, the foundation collects donations from parents and local businesses to help run programs that don’t have public funding.“Saratoga schools are among the best in the country,” Colinet said, “We are striving to keep it that way.”The fair will not only showcase the foundation’s programs, but will also include activities for all ages like dance instruction, henna tattoos, field games, raffles and a bounce castle, Families will also have the chance to meet SEF teachers and volunteers.According to Colinet, students do much better in school when they have access to creative programs.“There are many ballet silicone mould (mold) - 'ballet shoes' by fpc sugarcraft | resin mold, fimo mold, polymer clay mold, soapmaking m studies that show that students who have programs like art, music and physical education do better in school overall,” she said, “Our programs benefit every child in the district.”The fair will take place from 4 to 8 p.m, at the Saratoga Prospect Center located at 19800 Prospect Road in Saratoga, Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children from toddlers to eighth grade, All funds go directly to SEF’s funding for the current school year.For more information about donating to the foundation or to purchase tickets, visit saratoga-sef.org..
